Concept: Portland, OR. A husband and wife team of architects--Brian and Melody Emerick--set out to build their dreamhouse: a treehouse in the city. A bedroom looks out into a forest of trees; the lot on the edge of a Portland nature preserve completely hidden from any neighbors. Furniture is largely local and almost entirely environmentally-friendly; the dining room table is even carved from a fallen Alder tree on the former plot. Fairytale? Yes, certainly.
