Concept: San Diego, CA. San Diego-based architect Drew Hubbell introduced straw-bale insulation to the city in the nineties--the perfect solution for climate control fused with energy efficiency. This translates into walls two-feet thick with an aesthetic reminiscent of the Southwest's famous adobe style. At the Janson residence--in an outlying community of San Diego--indigenous succulents and low-water Australian exotics envelop the yard and pool creating a seamless symbiosis between green inside and out.
